Graduation Day for Grade 12 students is May 16 and there is no school for all students.

Summer Work Experience/Registered Apprenticeship Program 

 Are you working this summer? Earn high school credits for the work you do!   

You'll earn one credit for every 25 hours you work or volunteer within Calgary City limits.

The Summit Centre for Youth Resilience Free Parent Education Event

Canadian Mental Health Association's Mental Health Week 

CBE is recognizing Mental Health Week from May 6 to 12, 2024, under the theme "A Call to be Kind." This theme highlights the importance of compassion in our schools, workplaces and communities. Good mental health helps everyone fully engage in learning and work, which is vital for building a successful community. Our commitment to mental health and well-being is ongoing.

Moose Hide Campaign 

 Moose Hide Campaign Day is Thursday, May 16.  Anyone wishing to get a moose hide pin, please see Ms. Lloyd in the main office. 

What is the Moose Hide Campaign? The Moose Hide Campaign is a nationwide Indigenous-led movement to end violence towards women and children. The moose hide pin is central to the Moose Hide Campaign. Wearing the pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence.

Information from the Student Success Centre 

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses and scholarships. Students should also review the monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted. 

Summer School Information 

The registration deadline to take a Summer School course with the CBE has now closed. 

CBe-learn (online learning): The Student Success Centre will enter summer school requests for online learning from May 6 to 10. All students wlll be enrolled into ‘Essential for Online Learning Success’, with access by June 17. Students that complete this course by July 9 will receive one credit (unless they have previously completed the course).  

Chinook Learning Services (in-person learning):  The Student Success Centre will enter summer school requests for in-person learning from May 13 to 16.   

Notifications of enrollment for a summer school course will be emailed to families between June 3 to 7. Notifications will be sent from either “External - CBe-learn” or “External – Chinook Learning Services” inboxes.  

If you have not received an email notification regarding your summer school course by June 7 please check your junk/spam folder as well as your inbox.  If you still can’t find information contact CBe-learn (cbelearn.@cbe.ab.ca) regarding online learning or Chinook Learning Services for in-person learning.    

Chinook Learning Services is offering a Virtual Open House on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00pm.  Students and parents will learn about high school completion and upgrading.  Scan the QR code on the Student Success Centre D2L to receive an email to join the session or visit their website to register. 

Diploma Prep Courses – Students wishing to get the best possible marks on their Grade 12 diploma exams can attend a Diploma Prep Course.  They are offered in various formats (Online, In-person or On Demand).   See www.diplomaprep.com, www.renert.com or www.rtdlearning.com for more information and to register.  

EducationMatters’ 2023-2024 student award applications are now live.  

Students should apply for all awards through the online portal (https://applications.educationmatters.ca). Depending on the aware, application deadlines are May 1 or May 30.
