Rugby Pre-season Meeting 

Any students interested in playing rugby in the upcoming spring season, there will be a pre-season meeting on Wednesday, February, 5 during lunch in the Second Floor Learning Commons. All students welcome! No experience necessary. If you are unable to attend, please see Mr. Grossman or Mr. Hornick. 

Badminton 

If you are interested in trying out for the badminton team, please come to an organizational meeting on Wednesday, January 29, at noon in Room 3603.  If you cannot attend, please see Ms. Black, Mr. Constable or Ms. Grant for the information you need. 

An open practice for Badminton will be held on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:30 am in the Main Gym. Anyone interested in trying out for the badminton team is invited to attend. 

Tryouts for the badminton team will be held on Thursday, February 6 at 7:30 am in the Main Gym and on Tuesday, February 11 at 3:45pm in the Main Gym.  

If you want to try out for the team, you must come on those days. 

Construction Project Pick Up 

Any first semester construction students who left their projects in the shop, please ensure that you pick up your projects before February 12th. Due to limited space in the shop, any projects not picked up before the 12th will be disposed of in order to make space for second semester projects. 

Grad Information Required 

Attention all graduating Grade 12s! If you would like to have your baby photo in the slideshow that will play at this year’s graduation banquet, please email a photo to jcsbabyphotos@gmail.com. Don’t forget to include the graduate’s first and last name in the email with the photo! 

Semester 1 Fees

Yearbook Information 

Families can now order their yearbooks directly through Jostens for $47.50 until February 2025.  

The yearbooks will be available for pick up at the beginning of June for those who have purchased.  

To avoid disappointment, order yours today!

YMCA Tutoring Table 

JCS is partnered with Calgary United Way’s All In for Youth (AIFY) initiative. JCS administration and the Student Success Centre work with collaboratively with an AIFY Success Coach to support vulnerable students to be successful at school and in the community. One of the programs the AIFY offers JCS students is the YMCA Tutoring Table Program. 

  • Free tutoring services to JCS students. 
  • Semester 2 tutoring sessions start week of February 24. 
  • In-person at JCS or online tutoring opportunities. 
  • Assist students in math (Math 10 -3, 10-C, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1 and 30-2) courses. Limited science tutoring is available. 
  • Preference given to students who have financial &/or academic need. 
  • Student MUST commit to attend the weekly tutoring sessions.

All In For Youth Success Coach

Ieuan Roberts, JCS’ AIFY Success Coach, is at the school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and select Fridays. Contact your student’s Student Advisor for more information about the AIFY Success Coach program.

Information from the Student Success Centre 

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted. 

Are You Ready to Graduate? On Thursday, December 5 during Raven Time, Grade 12 students completed an ‘Are You Ready to Graduate?’ form. This form must be completed by all Grade 12 students and will be submitted to the Student Success Centre for review. If you have not yet filled out this form, you can pick one up in the Main Office and return it there once completed.
