Federal Election Polling Station at JCS

Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School is proud to support the democratic process for the upcoming Federal Election in Canada. JCS will be a polling station for both advanced polling (April 18 - 21 inclusive) and the Federal Election on Monday April 28. Elections Canada will be utilizing the auxiliary gymnasium for both polling periods. The advanced polling is during non-instructional days. Student learning will not be impacted by polling on Monday April 28. Physical Education classes will adjust class locations to support the use of the aux gym.

Students, please avoid driving to school on Monday April 28, as the student parking lot is essential to allow all eligible voters to access our gym to vote. If possible, please arrange alternative transportation options or carpool if alternative transportation is not possible. This will support eligible voters with mobility issues or limited time to come to JCS to vote. We appreciate your support with this and will send out reminders closer to the election.

For any questions regarding the election, please see the Elections Canada website (https://www.elections.ca/home.aspx). For questions regarding JCS as an election site, please reach out the school.

For any grade 12 students that have not met the requirements to graduate, there is an opportunity to return to JCS next year. Please pick up an application from the main office and make an appointment to speak with your counsellor to discuss if this is a viable option.

Alberta Post-Secondary Options Program (APOP)

  • Who:     All JCS students have access to APOP!
  • What:   APOP is a pilot project that aims to support high school students, especially those in grade 12, in Alberta as they prepare for their life after high school.
  • Where: Students create their APOP account at www.myapop.ca
  • Why:     APOP provides students with personalized information about postsecondary options and helps students to make decisions about where to go, what to study, and how to cover the costs. Using videos and interactive activities, APOP helps find postsecondary programs that students could get into, make a budget, and estimate how much individuals could receive in grants and loans from Alberta Student Aid.
