Alberta Post-Secondary Options Program (APOP) 

  • Who:  All JCS students have access to APOP!   
  • What: APOP is a pilot project that aims to support high school students, especially those in grade 12, in Alberta as they prepare for their life after high school. 
  • Where: Students create their APOP account at www.myapop.ca
  • Why:  APOP provides students with personalized information about postsecondary options and helps students to make decisions about where to go, what to study, and how to cover the costs. Using videos and interactive activities, APOP helps find postsecondary programs that students could get into, make a budget, and estimate how much individuals could receive in grants and loans from Alberta Student Aid.

Ceremony and Tickets

The JCS Class of 2025 Graduation will take place on May 15, 2025, at the BMO Centre.  

Graduation banquet tickets will be available for purchase through the MyCBE/PowerSchool account from Monday, March 31st to April 15th at noon. Please be aware that purchasing tickets for the graduation banquet does not ensure that a student is on the graduation list or eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.  

 Graduation ceremony tickets will be available for collection by Grade 12 students who are on the graduation list from Tuesday, April 8, 2025, to Thursday, April 10, 2025, between 12:00 PM and 12:25 PM each day.

Hoodies

We are pleased to let you know that we will be selling JCS Ravens Grad 2025 hoodies and sweatshirts for your grade 12 graduate.  Orders will be open from March 18- April 7th (midnight) with a guaranteed delivery before graduation.  Please review the link below to purchase your Grad 2025 swag!

Grad Fees

Grade 12 students can now view their graduation fees in their MyCBE Account. These fees apply to students intending to participate in the graduation ceremony. The graduation ceremony is when students will walk the stage in a graduation gown to receive their certificate. The fee is $70 and encompasses the following costs:   

• Rental of the BMO Centre   
• Rental of the graduation gown   
• Souvenir cap and tassel   
• Portfolio and certificate   
• Printing of the program 
• 4 guest tickets per graduating student to attend the ceremony 

Parents of students over 18 are reminded to ensure that their student signed the consent forms permitting parents to access their fees and accounts with CBE. 

Attention all graduating Grade 12s: If you would like to have your baby photo in the slideshow that will be played at this year’s graduation banquet, please email a photo to jcsbabyphotos@gmail.com. Don’t forget to include the graduate’s first and last name in the email with the photo!

Parent Society Spring Fundraisers 

JCS Parent Society thanks you for your support and invites you to join the Spring Fundraisers. This spring we are raising funds to support the school rugby and football teams, Green Earth Club, and our general funds to support various needs of the school.

Raven's Riches

Student Council and Ravens for Rights have teamed up to host a new donation event called Ravens’ Riches in support of local charities, like the Women In Need Society (WINS)! This event will take place in the form of a thrift store. Students will be able to drop off various items in the main office. Our in-school thrift store will be running from April 15-17th. We will be accepting donations from students starting March 11th through to March 20th. Donations will continue after the spring break (March 31st) until April 9th. We look forward to your donations and are excited to see students participate in our first thrift store!

 *Students will be able to purchase a variety of items with standardized prices from the donations we receive. Any items not purchased along with a portion of our profit will be donated to local charities and shelters in order to support our community.

**Important Information**

We will be accepting donations in the office. Students can drop off their donations in the labelled box.

Information from the Student Success Centre 

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted. 

EducationMatters has opened applications for their 2024-2025 scholarships and awards!  Students can see a list of available scholarships and awards, eligibility and deadlines on the Student Success Centre D2L as well as at www.educationmatters.ca. Students can also sign up for information sessions to learn tips on applying for scholarships as well as ask questions about the awards and application process. 

Registration for the 2025-2026 school year took place during Raven Time on February 20.  If you are a current Grade 10 or 11 student and do not yet have your course requests in PowerSchool, you must complete that ASAP in order to ensure you will have courses for next year.  Pick up a Registration Form from the Main Office, fill it out and either return it to the Main Office or your Student Advisor.

Summer School Information – the Student Success Centre will not be receiving any information on Summer School until early/mid-April.  Once information has been received, it will be posted in the Student Success Centre D2L as well as the Raven Post.
