As you are aware, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is preparing for an Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) strike beginning on Monday October 6, 2025. Classes, buses, extracurricular and school events are cancelled as of Monday, October 6. Do not send your child to school.. The most up to date information can be found on the CBE Labour Action page on the CBE Website.
YMCA News
The Seton Family Center will be available for those ages 10-17 from 10:00am-4:00pm weekdays during labour action. Students aged 10-17 can use the space respectfully to play, hang out with friends, work, or utilize the provincial learning supports. There will be art, games and other activities available to them if they choose to participate. Staff will be willing to help with University applications for grade 12 students, mental health resources, and other support they can provide. The students will need to bring their own laptop, IPAD or other electronic device for schoolwork, university applications etc. If the students need photocopying done for school, they can use their library card.
They have snack day on Wednesday for grades 10-12, and students can still earn tickets by attending and engaging in Outreach programs.
Unfortunately, the room is ONLY available to ages 10 to 17. No younger siblings will be allowed access during this time.

The JCS Rugby and Football teams are hosting a Fill your Freezer Fundraiser to support the teams. Please click on the link for more information. Fundraiser ends Thursday October 16th, 2025 at 11:00 pm.

The 2025-2026 yearbooks are on sale now, and we are offering an exclusive back to school sale! Until October 24, 2025 Yearbooks will be sold for $47.50. After this date, the price will increase to $50.00.
Additionally, with the purchase of a personalization on your yearbook, students can get up to 4 free icons on their yearbook if they order before October 24!

Information from the Student Success Centre
Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships.
Upcoming Post Secondary Presentations and Events
The Out of Province Post Secondary Fair scheduled for Thursday Oct 23 has been postponed until further notice. A new date will be announced once it is scheduled.
