Yearbook Ordering – LAST DAY
All yearbooks need to be preordered by families requiring one. The 2025-26 yearbooks are on sale until February 14 for $50.00. Families can order their yearbooks here: https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A02182920 Don’t be disappointed, order yours now as we will not have extras to sell when they are delivered in June!
Diploma Exams Update
Up until recently, you may have noticed an INC code on your student’s detailed academic report (available from their MyPass account) next to a January registration for courses that traditionally conclude with a diploma exam. This was a result of the January 2026 Diploma Exams being canceled. Alberta Education has now processed these exemptions. Your student should have a ‘Full Exemption’ comment next to any 2025/2026 January registration including an exam mark that matches their class-awarded mark on the line above.
If your student still has an INC (incomplete) code next to their course name on their detailed academic report, this means they must still write the diploma exam. Please contact Rob Brown (rabrown@cbe.ab.ca) who is our administrator in charge of diploma exams immediately to request an April diploma exam seat.
Please include your student’s full name, CBE ID number, and the course name that still has an INC code next to it instead of a mark.
School Council Meeting
The next school council and parent society meetings are Thursday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the school. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Pink Shirt Day
February 25 is Pink Shirt Day. This is an opportunity for your student to help create a safe, caring, and welcome learning environment at JCS by showing visible support for kindness, inclusion, and respect by wearing a pink shirt.
Kindness Week in Canada
The Government of Canada declared the third week of February (Feb 15 - 21) to be Kindness Week in Canada. Showing kindness can lead to:
- Reduced stress levels, lowered levels of stress hormones and elevated endorphins, which can improve immune system function
- A boost in neurochemicals having a calming, anti-stress effect
- A rise in hormones protective to our cardiovascular system
- Improved mood, self-esteem and happiness; and,
- Setting an example for others to follow
Jazz Café
JCS will be hosting Jazz Café on March 18 at 7:00pm. Please use this link for advanced tickets.

TipTop Grad Fundraiser

Course Change Requests for in-person classes at JCS:
Student Advisors have been busy working on the many requests for course changes. Semester two course change requests for all in-person courses at JCS have been processed as of this week.
If you did not see a course dropped from your schedule, it is likely because the course you wanted to drop is required for graduation.
If you did not see a course added to your schedule, it is likely that we did not have capacity in the course that was requested.
Online Course Requests for Second Semester
If you are still looking to enroll your student in an online course for Semester 2, you can find many online high school jurisdictions at: https://www.alberta.ca/online-learning
Availability of online courses varies significantly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and cannot be guaranteed. In person courses that are required for graduation will still be offered in-person here at JCS.
