Graduation Day 

Graduation day is next Tuesday, May 12 at the BMO Centre and there will be no school for all students. 

There are no physical tickets for the banquet. There is an electronic receipt in PowerSchool. You will need to provide proof of payment and to know which table was selected at time of purchase and to know whose name the ticket was purchased under.

The exam schedule for June is posted on the JCS website.  

Skills Alberta Provincial Award Winners 

A large contingent of JCS Ravens attended the Skills Alberta Provincials Competition May 5 – 7, 2026. Our Career and Technology Studies (CTS) students competed hard in disciplines such as electronics, web development, digital photography, and joinery. Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School had one of the strongest showings of CBE High Schools at the competition. We would like to thank all our CTS Teachers for their amazing mentorship, guidance, and instruction provided to our competitors and all our CTS students. We would also like to give a special thank you to our CTS teachers who accompanied our students to the event: Mr. Grossman, Mr. Hargreaves, Mr. Wilson, and Chef Pavol.

The next meeting is on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00pm at JCS, everyone is welcome to attend.  

Work Experience 

You could be eligible to earn high school Work Experience credits toward your Alberta High School Diploma! 

You must be: 

▪at least 15 years of age 

▪currently enrolled in a Calgary Board of Education high school (grades 10, 11 or 12) 

▪working in a paid or volunteer position 

Interested students must register for Work Experience 15-25-35 through Chinook Learning Services.

Summer Off-Campus Opportunities 

Summer Off-Campus Opportunities allows students to earn high school credits through paid or volunteer work in Calgary. Students must secure a job placement and have HCS3000 completed. Students without a job placement can apply with CAREERS for internships (careersnextgen.ca).

All school fees are now posted in PowerSchool. Please ensure that all fees are paid in a timely manner through the myCBE PowerSchool Portal. CBE offers many flexible payment options. If you have any questions, please contact our Business Manager Michelle Tremblay.

Alternative Summer School Options: 

Families may also choose to register through other school boards. These programs offer equivalent credits and marks, and registering early may help secure a spot. Please note that parents/guardians are responsible for registering their child with these boards, as they are not affiliated with nor recommended by CBE or Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School. We are simply aware that they are currently or will be offering summer school courses soon:
