Vape Awareness Week

Thank you to all those who supported or engaged in our Vape Awareness Week activities occurring throughout the past week. JCS staff were able to connect directly with a number of students and families, as well as provide general information to our student body and parent communication.  We are hopeful to build on this work with more information and initiatives in the coming weeks. Thank you!

For more information around the dangers of vaping and how to quit, please visit “Behind the Haze” created by Alberta Health Services at https://behindthehaze.ca/

Dance and Drama Showcase – December 17

The Dance and Drama Showcase is next week on Tuesday, December 17 at 7:00pm at the YMCA Seton Theatre. This is a fun show where we take work from our classes such as student-choreographed dances, class scene work, guest choreographer dances and a set from the improv club, and put it all together for one evening performance. There will also be displays set up outside the theatre of art work from our semester one art students for people to view prior to the show starting. Ticket prices are $5 for Students and $10 for Adults. Tickets can be purchased online through PowerSchool under optional student fees or in the Drama Room (1811) or at the door with cash only. We hope to see you there!

JCS Student Council Activities

The Raven Tree: A Holiday Giving Project

✨Looking for a way to GIVE BACK this month?✨

🎄JCS Student Council has paired up with Hull Services to support youth who may not being feeling the same connection & belonging we have here as Ravens.

🎄 Pick out an ornament & go buy a gift for someone to show some community spirit!

🎄 Gifts should be unwrapped & dropped off in the Main office by Monday, December 16

🎄The most needed items are arts & craft supplies (paints, canvases, markers, brushes, sketchbooks, etc) & hygiene items (deodorant, hairbrush, lip balm, lotion, floss, etc)

🎄Gift wrap & Tissue Paper would also be a helpful contribution!

Any questions, email Ms. Hornick at srhornick@cbe.ab.ca or go to Hull’s Website

Lost and Found

Please have students check the Lost and Found in the Hub area for any lost items. Smaller, valuable items such are keys, jewelry and earbuds are stored in the main office. Any items not picked up prior to the Winter break will be donated.

Staff Parking Lot

Unless students are required to access the disability parking, absolutely no dropping or picking up of students in the staff parking lot is allowed. Parents are encouraged to drop students off a block away from the school to avoid congestion in front of the school.

Information from the Student Success Centre

Every student at JCS is enrolled in the Student Success Centre (SSC) D2L shell. Lots of valuable information will be posted there. Students are encouraged to log in and keep up to date with the available information regarding post-secondary applications, university open houses, and scholarships. Students should also review the D2L monthly calendar where various upcoming post-secondary events will be posted.

Are You Ready to Graduate?  On Thursday, December 5 during Raven Time, Grade 12 students completed an “Are You Ready to Graduate?” form.  This form must be completed by all Grade 12 students and will be submitted to the Student Success Centre for review.  If you have not yet filled out this form, you can pick one up in the Main Office and return it there once completed.

CBe-learn will open registration for Semester 2 online courses on Tuesday, January 7.  Students who wish to take an online course in the second semester need to make an appointment to meet with their Student Advisor starting on January 7.

Registration availability is based on first-come, first served.
